After disappointment at the recent FIBA World Cup, the managers running Team USA are eager to add a lot of power and skill to the roster and secure Olympic gold at the 2024 games in Paris.
If this latest rumor is to be believed, Team USA is going to be a super team of the highest degree. Shams Charania reported that Jrue Holiday, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, and LeBron James are "locks" for Team USA at the 2024 Olympics.
These are six of the best basketball players alive and the fact that they are all but guaranteed for the games is a huge win for the national team from America. Barring any injuries, each of these players will add a ton of attention and buzz to the roster. They will also secure many wins.
The addition of these players will also attract other superstars across the NBA. Young and established NBA figures will want to play alongside James, Durant, Curry, Emiid, and others.
This will most certainly be the last time that James, Curry, and Durant participate in the Olympics, as they will likely all be retired by the time the 2028 Olympics roll around.
For months now, there has been a lot of speculation about which players would sign up to play in the Olympics. When Team USA fell short in the FIBA World Cup, it was immediately assumed that the next iteration of the team would look very different. Then rumors stated that LeBron James was interested in playing in the Olympics again, which only got the ball rolling more. Soon, Durant and Curry's names were attached and then Embiid pledged himself to the team too.
These six men could be the core of the team but there will be many other big names joining before the Olympics start this summer.
