Toronto Star's Doug Smith said that the
Toronto Raptors intend to exercise their $23 million option on
Bruce Brown, but that the plan is to trade him in the offseason.
The 27-year-old shooting guard's arrival to the Canadian franchise came as part of the deal that sent Pascal Siakam to the
Indiana Pacers days before the trade deadline. In that context, the Raptors flirted with the idea of trading the player, who was a valuable asset coveted by several contending teams. Finally, after all the rumors, Brown stayed in Toronto.
With the regular season over and heading into a free agency that is expected to be loaded with moves, Toronto intends to trade Bruce Brown this offseason, rather than wait until the 2025 trade deadline.
The Pacers acquired Brown last summer, after a valuable performance of the shooting guard in the 2023 playoffs, in which he was instrumental in winning the first championship in the history of the
Denver Nuggets. His performance earned him a very interesting contract with the Indianapolis team.
Despite this, his time with the Raptors did not meet expectations, possibly because the player was dealing with some knee problems that diminished his impact on the team.
