Bad news for the
New York Knicks, as it was confirmed that
OG Anunoby's return will not happen in game 6 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the
Indiana Pacers. The player is still recovering from that nagging hamstring injury and will miss this golden opportunity for New York to return to the East Finals after 25 years.
OG Anunoby will miss the 3rd consecutive game in these conference semifinals, as he has been unable to recover from a hamstring injury suffered during game 2 of the series. The 26-year-old forward has suffered from various setbacks throughout the season, and the Knicks miss him greatly when he is out.
Anunoby has become a decisive factor since he arrived last January from the Toronto Raptors. Without him on the court, New York's defense loses one of its fundamental values. Attacking, his absence is also noticeable. OG plays solid offense, contributing in many ways, scoring, setting screens and driving to the basket.
The curse of injuries at the New York Knicks continues to give head coach Tom Thibodeau nightmares, who despite not having a fully healthy roster virtually ever this season, has managed to get the available players to get the message and commit to the team, surpassing all expectations.
There is speculation that OG could return in the event of an eventual Game 7, although the Knicks are probably thinking about leaving everything in the next game and achieving that long-awaited and elusive qualification to the conference finals. Will they be able to do it?
