Minnesota Timberwolves ' rising star Anthony Edwards didn't mince words when discussing the disparity in free throw attempts between his team and the Los Angeles Lakers in their recent matchup. Following the game, where the Lakers shot 29 free throws compared to the Timberwolves' 13, Edwards expressed his frustration, highlighting the challenge of competing under such circumstances.
"It’s tough. It's tough every night when we don’t get to the free throw line as much as the other team," Edwards stated. "When 1 player shoots more free throws than your entire team, it’s tough. It’s tough to compete... You want to compete and if every time they get the ball, we so called foul them and they get to the free throw line. It's tough. I don't know how to explain it, man."
Anthony Edwards finished the duel with 4 free throws attempted. Only 3 players from the Wolves starting five made free throws and only one substitute, Luka Garza, did so. In his statements Edwards made mention of a player who had shot more free throws than his team, referring to the fact that Anthony Davis shot 13, the same as all the Wolves. It is the eternal controversy of accusing Los Angeles of receiving favorable treatment from the referees based on the statistics of the number of free throws taken. Do you think Edwards is right?
