Nets say Ben Simmons is out for the remainder of the season while he consults with specialists and explores treatment options for the nerve impingement in his lower back.
As reported by Shams Charania in The Athletic, Brooklyn Nets will not be able to count on Ben Simmons for the remainder of the season. His back problems persist and he will have to explore alternative treatments to try to solve it. Thus, he will not be back on the court until the 2024/25 campaign.
Recall that Ben Simmons is being paid $37 million this season and next season, the last of the big extension he signed when he was an All-Star and promised to be a great player with the Philadelphia 76ers, he will be paid 40 kilos.
Simmons landed in Brooklyn during the 2021/22 season in exchange for James Harden and did not play a game that year. Last season, 2022/23, he played a total of 42 games, averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists. This season, with similar averages, he has barely played 15 games.
Big drag on a Brooklyn Nets project that gave it all for Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden and is with a mediocre team that is neither bad enough to tanking nor good enough to make the playoffs. Tough present.
