Cleveland Cavaliers' talented power forward,
Evan Mobley, suffered a sprained ankle in yesterday's thriller against the Boston Celtics. According to sources, the young player could be sidelined for an extended period of time.
Bad news for the Cleveland Cavaliers. After one of their most important victories against the best team in the NBA after a storming come back in the fourth quarter, they now must face a negative outcome of that impressive win. Evan Mobley, one of the teams' key players, is ruled out without a certain timeline for his comeback.
Mobley will undergo additional studies to determine how severe is the injury, but will have to wait a few days to do so, until the swelling subsides.
The injury happened halfway through the third period, when the 22-year-old landed after dunking the ball. He had to be escorted back to the locker room.
Mobley has been a huge part of Cleveland's success. The former 2023 NBA All-defensive first team was averaging a double-double this season, with 15.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game shooting with nearly 58% from the field.
The former third pick of the 2021 NBA Draft had already been quite some time out, missing almost all December and a good part of January recovering from a knee surgery.
With less than seven weeks of action the Cleveland Cavaliers will have to show the same team effort than yesterday to not lose a step and secure a direct trip to the upcoming playoffs. Besides Mobley,
Donovan Mitchell and
Max Strus are ruled out for some time to, dealing with knee problems.
