When and Where:
TV Guide: The 2024 NBA All-Star Game will tip-off on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. Eastern. Fans can catch all the action live on TNT or stream it on MAX.
The Format:
This year, the NBA All-Star Game returns to its classic format, pitting the Eastern Conference against the Western Conference. The game will consist of four 12-minute quarters, with the team accumulating the highest total score emerging victorious. No captains will be drafting teams on the court, and there won't be any target scores — it's a return to tradition, much to the delight of fans.
The Starters:
Eastern Conference:
- Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers)
- Damian Lillard (Bucks)
- Jayson Tatum (Celtics)
- Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks)
- Bam Adebayo (Heat) Note: Joel Embiid was voted in but is unable to play due to knee surgery.
Western Conference:
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder)
- Luka Doncic (Mavericks)
- LeBron James (Lakers)
- Nikola Jokic (Nuggets)
- Kevin Durant (Suns)
The Coaches:
This year's All-Star Game coaches are Chris Finch of the Minnesota Timberwolves for the Western Conference and Doc Rivers of the Milwaukee Bucks for the Eastern Conference. Rivers, although coaching the Bucks for only a short period, earned the coaching nod due to the team's performance before his arrival. Interestingly, Rivers has opted to pass on his coaching earnings and the All-Star ring to the former Bucks coach, Adrian Griffin, displaying a remarkable gesture of sportsmanship.
The MVP Legacy:
The NBA All-Star Game MVP award bears the name of the late Kobe Bryant, a legend of the game who won the award four times during his illustrious career. Over the past decade, the award has been claimed by some of the game's brightest stars, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and most recently, Jayson Tatum.
With the stage set and the stars aligned, the 2024 NBA All-Star Game promises to be a spectacle of athleticism, skill, and sportsmanship. As the basketball world converges in Indianapolis, fans eagerly await to witness history unfold on the court and celebrate the legacy of the game's greatest talents.
