The
Houston Rockets defeated the
Washington Wizards 135-119 at Toyota Center, and
Jalen Green had a ton of highlights including the play of the year!
In the final minute of the 3rd quarter, Green was bringing the ball up the court. He did a double behind the back dribble, causing Jared Butler to fall down. The 3rd-year guard then stared at his defender on the floor for a couple seconds before drilling the 3-pointer. Everyone in the arena went crazy and the NBA community loved this play, as it went viral on social media as possibly the best play of the season.
In addition to that highlight play, Jalen Green scored a game-high 37 points with 8 rebounds, and he splashed a total of 5 triples in this contest.
Fred VanVleet had 27 point and 9 assists while Amen Thompson finished with 20 points, 10 boards, and 3 steals. Jabari Smith Jr. scored 16 points on 60% shooting.
Jordan Poole led his team in scoring with 25 points and 5 threes off the bench.
Kyle Kuzma scored 23 points while Deni Avdija had 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Tyus Jones recorded 13 points and 8 assists.
Houston improves to 31-35 with this win and remain the 11th seed in the West. They are 3.5 games behind the 10th seeded Warriors so they still have a chance to sneak into the play-in tournament if everything goes right for them. The Rockets are rolling at the moment as they are on a 4-game winning streak and they’ll look to keep that up on Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Washington drops to 11-55 with this loss and currently have the best odds to land the #1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. They have had a disappointing season but will hope that adding a top prospect this off-season will help them improve next year. The Wizards are 2-8 over their last 10 games and will face off against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.
