Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey is questionable tonight with an illness.
Tonight, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers will play Game 2 of the 2024 NBA Playoffs first-round playoff series between the two Eastern Conference franchises. After losing Game 1, the Sixers remain on edge due to the possible absence of Tyrese Maxey for today's matchup.
The news has been advanced by Chris Haynes, journalist for TNT and Bleacher Report. Apparently, the Pennsylvania franchise doubts whether it will be able to count on its second star due to an illness. This is in addition to the fact that Joel Embiid is not 100%, and this was noted in Game 1 against the Knicks when he resented his knee.
As already mentioned, New York Knicks beat Philadelphia 76ers in the first game of the series, keeping the home court factor and with great sensations in their game. The fact that the Sixers can't count on Maxey, who in that matchup was the best of the visitors with 33 points in 44 minutes on the court, is a tough blow for the game plan that Nick Nurse had planned for tonight's game.
Although his absence is not fully confirmed, the next few hours will be key to whether Tyrese Maxey can finally be available for Game 2 where the Knicks can make it 2-0, or on the other hand, the Sixers can go deep into the series by stealing home-court advantage and sending the playoffs to Philadelphia at 1-1.
Throughout the regular season, the 23-year-old has made a huge leap in level to become one of the NBA's best, averaging 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game.
