Perhaps the NBA's most prolific scorers of All-time, Kevin Durant, is enjoying a very good present with the Phoenix Suns. KD was key in the last game victory on the road against the reigning champions Denver Nuggets, who had previously won 6 games in a row. Despite Booker's injury, Durant carried the Suns' offense and played with ice in his veins in overtime. In an interview with Chris Haynes, KD spoke about how important is for him to play basketball and how passionate about it he is.
Kevin Durant came into the league in 2007, 17 years later he now finds himself playing at 35 years old in an amazing level. Despite having to deal with severe injuries throughout his career, KD looks almost the same as back when he was drafted by the Seattle Supersonics with the second pick of the Draft. He's now a savvy veteran who knows to manage perfectly his energy and with a talent to score effortless. That's what keeps him right on top with other league younger superstars.
Durant was interviewed recently and we can see how he has matured with his answers, speaking from his heart, transmiting a genuine joy in what he does: "I just love this game, I love the challenges, the obstacles that comes with it. I love the process."
"I just enjoy getting up every day to do this s--t, there are going to be days where it's a struggle, and there have been great days. I could be doing a lot of other s--t with my life. I'm talented at this s--t, and I enjoy being talented. I enjoy the camaraderie and the brotherhood that comes with this game. It's that simple."
KD has been one of the most iconic NBA figures the last two decades. All the flashes, all the attention of the media have been on him for a lot of time but Kevin hasn't forgotten why he is where he is, he wants to compete and be better in what he loves.
"I had people that was there to keep me on the right path as a kid. It could have went a lot of different ways. I just be grateful for that type of s--t when I get older. I'm forever grateful for that support."
After winning in that overtime thriller, Durant also shared some words about how he feels with his team, the Phoenix Suns: "I believe in this team, and we believe in one another. Yes, playing with Brad [Beal] and Book is new, but as far as the game itself, I have seen everything in this league. Everything has been thrown at me. I just want to see us continue to grow as a unit. I like our chemistry. Not just the three of us, but our whole team. I think we're starting to build something and form an identity, Our coaching staff is doing a great job," concluded the two-times NBA Champion and Finals MVP.
