The New York Knicks have been one of the best teams this season. Tom Thibodeau's squad was on a role this season, especially after trading of OG Anunoby in January. Unfortunately, the Knicks began a stretch of injuries that cost them loosing a few places in the Eastern Conference standings. However, there's a big chance that they can recover all their missing pieces before the playoffs start.
This 2023-24 NBA regular season has seen a New York Knicks team succeed like it didn't in a very long time. The Knicks were on a role following Anunoby's arrival, winning several games in a row. But not everything went their way, since they lost Mitchell Robinson in December due to an ankle injury that required surgery. After that, in January they lost Julius Randle, one of the team's All-Star this season, following a shoulder injury.
Lastly, on February 9th, another vital part of their core, OG Anunoby, who was being viewed as one of the most succesful signings in franchise history due to his immediate impact on the team, had to undergo surgery to repair bone damage in his elbow.
Three essential parts missing for a big chunk of the season damaged severily New York's intentions to compete for the first place in the East. The team is now with a losing record of 3-7 in their last 10, falling to the 4th place and being followed closely by the Miami Heat.
But there's hope, despite all the health issues, New York is getting closer to their players' return. Its expected that all of them could be getting back before the regular season ends.
Today, Tom Thibodeau, New York Knicks head coach, said that OG Anunoby has been cleared for work on court, but he hasn't done anything yet.
Good news for the Knicks, while it's not sure when will Anunoby be back, the fact that he was cleared to work on court tells that he's coming back soon.
