NBA.com’s final MVP Ladder: 1. Nikola Jokic 2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 3. Luka Doncic 4. Giannis Antetokounmpo 5. Jayson Tatum 6. Domantas Sabonis 7. Anthony Edwards 8. Jalen Brunson 9. Kevin Durant 10. Devin Booker
We are in the last days of the regular season and the official NBA website has released the latest tally to see who is the winner of the MVP of the 2023/24 season. Obviously, this is a poll and the final result may be different, although anything other than seeing Nikola Jokic taking his third award would be a big surprise.
He has been ahead of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic for weeks, who, despite his success, still has many critics among journalists. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum close the top 5 and Domantas Sabonis, Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson and Suns Kevin Durant and Devin Booker enter the final top 10.
1. Nikola Jokic.
The Denver Nuggets leader, reigning NBA Finals MVP and two-time NBA Finals MVP winner, is a strong favorite to win it again after losing it to Joel Embiid last season.
2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Despite his slump in recent weeks due to physical problems, Shai's consistency in scoring thirty points per game keeps him at the top of the table. The fact that OKC has been at the top of the West all year also helps him;
3. Luka Doncic
Leading scorer (by far) and second-leading assist man in the NBA. This is the first time he is really in the pools until the end. He won't win it this year, but if he continues at this level it will be difficult for him not to be the MVP next season (despite the absurd critics).
4. Giannis Antetokounmpo.
He had a spectacular numerical season in spite of Milwaukee Bucks' irregular campaign. Playing like this with his team at the top, he can get another MVP. With his team being coached by Doc Rivers, that seems complicated...
5. Jayson Tatum.
The best player of the best team (by far) in the league deserves to be here. His campaign on a numerical level does not come close to that of the 4 men who pass him in the pools, but still there is nothing to object to him: tremendous his year, proving to be a great leader.
6. Domantas Sabonis
Incredibly, he was left out of the All-Star Game. He is the league's top rebounder and has completed an incredible record of consecutive double-doubles. His Sacramento Kings have not evolved from last year. He has;
7. Anthony Edwards
There is no doubt that he is already a star. Fantastic year for Minnesota Timberwolves with Edwards as the absolute leader on offense on a team that will fight for the 1 spot in the West until the last day;
8. Jalen Brunson.
He didn't really get into MVP coverage until the last day. We suppose that without so many injuries the Knicks could have been a little higher in the West standings and there would have been more talk about him. Tremendous his year;
9. Kevin Durant.
The only great leader of a Phoenix Suns that are not having an easy season. As usual in recent years, he works too much on offense and defense and plays too many minutes. Very good season one more year;
10. Devin Booker
Honestly, as brutal as his numbers are, as we've said before the man who has held the Suns down this year has been KD. That said, he's here by the numbers, but this year he was expected to be on par with the likes of Doncic, Shai and company and he's fallen far short of that.
