It was an easy win for the Oklahoma City Thunder in this game, as they destroyed the Memphis Grizzlies 124-93 at Paycom Center thanks to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s amazing 3-point stroke.
SGA has been playing MVP basketball all season long and he has proved to be able to score in multiple different ways. He can post up, drive to the basket, hit midrange jumpers, and draw fouls to get to the line. Tonight he showcased his versatility, as in addition to all his attributes he also shot efficiently from deep, making himself a tough cover for the entire team. The 2-time All-Star is developing his game even more and will be a problem in this league for many years.
In this contest, the 25-year-old hit 5/7 three pointers and finished with 23 points. Cason Wallace had a big game off the bench, scoring 22 points and hitting 4 triples. Josh Giddey had 16 points and 10 rebounds while Lu Dort hit all 5 of his shots and ended with 14 points. Chet Holmgren provided 8 points with 2 blocks and Jalen Williams sprained his ankle in 10 minutes and he did not return.
GG Jackson scored a game high 30 points for the Grizzlies. Jaren Jackson Jr. had 16 points while Jake LaRavia finished with 13 points. Luke Kennard struggled, scoring just 3 points on 1/6 shooting.
OKC improves to 45-19 with this win and now hold a 1 game lead over the Timberwolves for the top seed in the West. They have been playing amazing basketball, going 8-2 over their last 10 games. The Thunder will hope to win the conference to have home court advantage but in the meantime, they are focused on Jalen Williams health. Their next matchup will be on Tuesday against the Indiana Pacers.
Memphis drops to 22-43 with this loss. Their young players have showed some sparks in their limited playing time but the Grizzlies are just hoping to get their core players fully healthy by the start of next season. They are 3-7 over their last 10 games and will play against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday.
