The Golden State Warriors picked up a huge 128-121 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night and superstar Stephen Curry spoke about the team's performance in his postgame interview.
The 2-time MVP returned from an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for 3 games. In his first game back, the future Hall of Famer scored 31 points and hit 3 triples on 50% shooting from the field.
When asked about his return, the 4-time champion said that he missed the competition and was excited to back on the court. He mentioned that his body felt good and he was glad he could get his reps in before the game, as it translated to his on-court performance.
The 10-time All-Star was then asked about the outlook of tonight's game. He responded by saying that every game, especially against teams like the Lakers that are jumbled in the play-in mix with them, has its own ramifications. He stated that "Every game matters", especially as the season wanes down and the playoff picture gets tighter.
After that Curry discussed the confidence a win like this can give the Warriors. He mentioned that even though Los Angeles was without Anthony Davis, they still played well. However, he felt that his team did a great job of controlling pace and cutting down their turnovers to decrease LA's chances of fastbreak points.
He also recognized that their offense is very post centric, so limiting their strengths and forcing stops allowed the Dubs to get in transition. Another big thing is the fouling, as he stated that his club only gave up 18 free throws to the home team.
Finally, Steph was asked about the clock malfunction towards the end of the 4th quarter. The sharpshooter said that he has never witnessed that in his 15-year career but luckily there was only 1:50 left in the game.
Overall, the Warriors are ecstatic after picking up a huge win to a conference rival and they now overtake the Lakers for the 9th seed in the West. Golden State will do whatever they can to keep improving in the standings and it starts with their upcoming matchup against the New York Knicks on Monday.
