Houston Rockets rising star, Alperen Sengun, injured his right knee and his right ankle when landing after jumping attempting to block Domantas Sabonis lay-up.
The talented turkish center was enjoying his coming out party this season, especially the last month, where he was playing at a high level. Sadly, Alperen Sengun's rise was stopped mommentarily yesterday, in a game where the Houston Rockets stunned the Sacramento Kings.
Late in the fourth, Sengun chased Domantas Sabonis at ful speed and when the Kings star went up for the lay-up, Alperen jump to try to block the shot. Unfortunately, the Rockets' pivot had a nasty landing which resulted in a severe ankle sprain and bone bruised knee, in line with what reported ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 21-year-old born in Giresun, Turkey was enjoying a phenomenal stretch of games in what was his best season so far in the NBA. The Rockets found a true gem in Sengun, a young skilled center to combine with Jalen Green is what Houston needed in their rebuilding process.
With the good news that Sengun escaped a major injury in his right leg, the Rockets can breathe and think what's the best way to succeed with their young talents next season.
In the last five games, the young center registered: 21 points vs Phoenix, 45 points and 16 rebounds against San Antonio, a monster 23 point, 14 assists and 19 rebounds triple-double vs the Clippers, 19 points and 9 rebounds against Portland and yesterday, 14 points and 6 rebounds in 29 minutes of play in the win against Sacramento.
Houston won 4 of those 5 games when Alperen Sengun exploded. Bright future ahead for the Rockets, now it's time to work on the full recovery of their gifted young player.
