James Worthy on how Jokic runs his offense. "It's not iso. It's not guessing. It's not spontaneous. It's perfection"
Yesterday, the Denver Nuggets won the series opener against the Los Angeles Lakers. Nikola Jokic was dominant, proving once again why he's the best player in the world right now. James Worthy, one of the Lakers' legendary players, said that Jokic's reminds him of a combination of two of his historical teammates: Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. An incredible compliment that represent how much of a generational talent Jokic really is.
James Worthy was an extraordinary player, able to win three championships alongside Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He's more than qualified to establish the comparison between two of the greatest players in NBA History with the Joker.
Worthy was amazed with Nikola's performance last night. The reigning finals MVP scored 32 points, on 14/15 in the paint, grabbed 12 rebound and dished 7 assists, as Denver rounded a solid victory against LeBron James and Anthony Davis' Lakers 114-103.
"To me, he's Magic and Kareem on the floor at the same time," Worthy told Spectrum SportsNet. "He's a guard — he makes great decisions, a hell of a passer — and then when he wants to be Kareem, he goes down [to the post] and dominates. He's a special player who does a lot of things, and your antennas have to up [as a defense]. You can't have any lapses."
Jokic scored at will the key, as the Nuggets scored 64 of their 114 points in the paint as a team, highlighting one of Nikola's underrated skills. He's lethal near the basket combining a soft touch with smooth footwork. If LA can't slow him down, they will continue to have a lot of problems to defeat Denver.
Next game will be again in Mile High City, tip off on Monday at 10 p.m. ET
