The Los Angeles Lakers came to Capital One Arena and survived a late game push by the Washington Wizards behind Anthony Davis’ heroics to come out on top 125-120.
The 9-time All-Star finished with a game-high 35 points, 18 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks for the Lakers. LeBron James had 25 points, 7 boards, 9 assists, and 3 steals while Rui Hachimura scored 19 points. D’Angelo Russell recorded 18 points with 4 three-pointers while Austin Reaves provided 16 points.
Jordan Poole scored a team-high 29 points with 5 triples for the Wizards. Kyle Kuzma had 17 points and 12 rebounds while Julian Champagnie provided 13 points off the bench. Corey Kispert recorded 17 points and Tristan Vukcevic ended with 15 points and 3 makes from downtown in his first career start.
Los Angeles improves to 44-33 with this win and now sit just 1 game behind the Suns for the 8th seed in the West. The Lakers have a pretty easy remaining schedule while Phoenix has one of the toughest schedules, so there’s a chance that the purple and gold can overtake them in the standings.
They are currently on a 3-game winning streak and 8-2 over their last 10 contests. Their next matchup will be on Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Washington drops to 15-62 with this loss and remains in the run for the top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Wizards are 4-6 over their last 10 games and will face off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
