In a day full of expectations of great games, in which several teams are considered candidates for the title, and with great players facing each other, the fans were left with a taste of little. The
Boston Celtics were wiped off the court in only half the game at home to the
Milwaukee Bucks. The
Los Angeles Lakers, on the other hand, fought until the middle of the 3rd quarter, only to find themselves outplayed by the Phoenix Suns.
After yesterday's matchups, in which three of the games played were decided in overtime, things could only get better. Boston Celtics traveled to the land of Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, the 1 and 2 of the East, promising a Playoff-flavored classic. Nothing could have been further from the truth, as the Bucks swept Jayson Tatum and company in just one half. By the start of the second half, Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazulla threw the towel by putting players from the bottom of his bench on court. It was 135-102 in favor of Milwaukee.
Later in the night, in the most anticipated game of the night,
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Kevin Durant-led Phoenix Suns in a classic matchup of these sports giants. Neither was the case, as the Suns finally showed their firepower, with Booker and Beal combining for 68 of the 127 points their team scored to put away a Lakers whose stars were conspicuously subdued.
There was another game to highlight, which pitted the in-form New York Knicks against the Dallas Mavericks, who were without Luka Doncic. It was no problem for Kyrie Irving, who was on fire scoring 44 points and cuting New York's winning streak in the best matchup of the day.
