The new selected players from the Eastern and Western Conference who have been their teams' standouts throughout the last week are here. From the East, Boston Celtics' Derrick White finally gets some of the flashes. The Western Conference will be represented by non-other than the Los Angeles Lakers center, Anthony Davis.
Derrick White deserved some love from the fans and the media, as the Celtics' guard is one of the most impactful players on Boston's roster. White has been great since he got to the team, usually pointed out as the one who does some of the dirty work for the squad. From rebounding to scoring when needed, providing excellent defense with very active hands, disrupting the rivals' offense, changing shots and deflecting passes.
In 66 games played this season, White is averaging 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists, with very impressive shooting splits: 46.2% from the field and 39.5% from three-point range. This are very good numbers but what about his averages last week? He averaged 20.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 8.8 assists, really making a fantastic leap, helping Boston winning its last four games.
Anthony Davis continues to play phenomenally for the Lakers. 'The Brow' has played 67 games so far this season, proving his durability and compromise with the team. Davis averages 24.6 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists but last week he took it up a nodge, averaging 27 points and 16.7 rebounds as LA won their three games scheduled.
Both players are crucial for their teams championship aspirations. Perhaps White's minutes could decrease now that the Celtics clinched that first seed to give him some rest and start the playoffs at 100%.
AD on the other hand, needs to maintain this fantastic level to give his team a chance to compete for a spot in the postseason.
