The
New York Knicks were without their 3 best players (Jalen
Brunson, Julius Randle, OG Anunoby) and the
New Orleans Pelicans took full advantage
as they easily won 115-92 at Madison Square Garden behind a stellar Brandon
Ingram game.
The shorthanded Knicks put up a fight in the first half, as
they only trailed by 1 going into the break. However, New Orleans came into the
second half out on a mission, as they outscored New York 67-45 in the final 2
quarters to blow this game open and leave MSG on a high note.
Brandon Ingram took over, scoring 24 points with 6 rebounds
and 5 assists.
Zion Williamson followed in his footsteps, as he ended with 21
points. Trey Murphy III shot the lights out tonight, hitting triples and
finishing with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Herb Jones recorded 15 points and 2
steals.
For the Knicks,
Donte DiVincenzo led the team with 23 points
and 7 makes from downtown. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 20 points off the bench with
4 threes of his own. Josh Hart contributed 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5
assists while Precious Achiuwa ended with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
This win improves the Pelicans to 35-24, which makes them 5th
in the Western Conference. In a tight battle for the playoffs, this is a
massive win for New Orleans as they look to avoid the play-in tournament. They
are 7-3 over their last 10 games and this victory snaps a 2-game losing streak.
Their next game will be tomorrow against the Indiana Pacers.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Knicks to 35-24, which makes
them 4th in the Eastern Conference. New York has been cold as of late, going 3-7
in their last 10 games. They will look to bounce back on Thursday against the
Golden State Warriors.
