During his first year with the
Dallas Mavericks,
Dante Exum has experienced a lengthy battle with injuries and has only played in 32 games. He has started in 14 of them, proving that he can be a really important part of the Mavericks' lineup. Sadly, because of a knee injury, Exum hasn't participated in a game for Dallas since January 26.
However, the Mavericks now believe that Exum might be back during the Mavericks' upcoming road trip or possibly this weekend.
The Mavericks are set to play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, followed by the Toronto Raptors, and Boston Celtics later this week.
Exum has averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while shooting 47.7% from the field this season. As mentioned, he has been a presence both on the bench and as a starting player.
Exum fills a very important role for the Mavericks because he can support the team when
Luka Doncic or
Kyrie Irving is out and resting. His ability to be part of the team's starting five or second unit makes him all the more attractive and important.
The Mavericks are currently the eighth-best team in the Western Conference with a 33-24 record. They have a deeper roster than they have for the last few years and their playoff hopes are very much alive, especially with Doncic playing at MVP-caliber levels again.
