The city of Cleveland has only one Championship banner hanging from the cealing of the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Kyrie Irving was a huge part of that accomplishment and tonight the Cavs prepared him a little video to honor him and remember that awesome run that Kyrie and LeBron had to come back from the 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors to win it all.
A beautiful and well deserved moment to remember Kyrie Irving in the visit of the Dallas Mavericks to Cavs' house. Irving was the first pick of the 2011 Draft by Cleveland and displayed his unique basketball talent throughout the 2016-17 season. In that period of time, Kyrie was absolutely sensational and a big part for LeBron James' return, back in 2015. Together they dominated the Eastern Conference three years.
Of course the best memories are linked to that wild stretch of games during the 2016 NBA Finals in which Irving and LeBron went for 40+ points in three straight games, to finally recover from a 3-1 deficit against arguably one of the best teams ever.
When asked if the Cavs should retire Kyrie's #2 jersey, today's Clevelands' superstar, Donovan Mitchell didn't hesitate:
"He should have his jersey retired for sure… Only championship in team history and he was a huge part of that. I think that’s something that should never go overlooked."
