The short handed
Milwaukee Bucks hosted the
Indiana Pacers at Fiserv Forum in Game 1 and they picked up a dominant 109-94 victory behind a vintage performance by
Damian Lillard.
Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play in this game for the Bucks, so Damian Lillard took over as he did back in Portland. The 8-time All-Star scored a team-high 35 points while hitting 6 threes to give his team a hot start offensively. He did all of this in the first half before getting double and even triple teamed to get the ball out of his hands. Khris Middleton followed in his footsteps with 23 points and 10 rebounds on 9/14 shooting.
Bobby Portis started for the Greek Freak and recorded 15 points with 11 rebounds. Brook Lopez had 11 points with 3 blocks while Patrick Beverley contributed 5 points, 7 boards, 8 assists, and 2 steals.
Pascal Siakam ended with a game-high 36 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Myles Turner had 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals while
Tyrese Haliburton had a quiet night with just 9 points, 7 boards, and 8 assists. TJ McConnell provided 10 points off the bench.
Milwaukee picks up a huge victory to take a 1-0 series lead and defend home court despite not having their best player. Dame Time was magnificent in this contest and he proved why the Bucks traded for him this off-season.
The 2021 NBA champs are looking to make a deep playoff run and redeem themselves after last year’s devastating postseason performance. They’ll look to go up 2-0 on Tuesday while also hoping to get Giannis healthier each day.
Indiana came out slow in this game and looked like they weren’t ready for the bright lights. They will look to make improvements for Game 2 and come out stronger than they did tonight. This was a tough contest to lose with the 2-time MVP sidelined for Milwaukee but the Pacers still have confidence based on how the season series went between these 2 squads.
