The
New Orleans Pelicans defeated the
Sacramento Kings and advanced to the first round of the NBA playoffs. They will be facing the
Oklahoma City Thunder, the Western Conference' first seeded. Pelicans' superstar,
Zion Williamson suffered a hamstring strain in Tuesday's loss against the Lakers. Will he be able to make a comeback to help his team against the West's best?
Last Tuesday, the Pelicans faced the Los Angeles Lakers in the first play-in duel of the Western Conference. The Lakers prevailed, in part because Zion hurt his leg with a couple of minutes left to finish the game. Up to that point, recorded 40 points and 11 rebounds and even tied the game in the very same play that the injury happened.
With New Orleans advancing to the first round, there might be some time for Zion to recover. Hamstrings are a pesky injury to deal with, especially since there is always the possibility of suffering a setback. New Orleans announced that Zion will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
This indicates that in the best scenario, the talented power forward could be making his return aproximately by May 1st, which would be the date for a possible game 5 between OKC and the Pelicans.
The entire New Orleans squad will need to be in tip-top shape in order to put some pressure on the Thunder and try to win at least one game to extend the series. This team has showed resiliance and with
Brandon Ingram catching rhythm, we may get a chance to witness Zion Williamson's debut in the NBA playoffs.
