D'Angelo Russell gets the block which leads to a little bit of Showtime in Los Angeles. I will never not be mesmerized by the fact that LeBron James can *still* do stuff like this.
D'Angelo Russell's name has been tied to a number of trade NBA rumors lately but on Sunday night, his name was tied to his amazing performance against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Los Angeles Laker star scored 34 points and 8 assists, including one sensational bounce-pass alley-oop that got the crowd on its feet and had all Lakers fans smiling.
Following the game, Russell spoke about the pass to LeBron James that was instantly a hit online.
"Just having fun ... I mean, that's what we all dream of doing... Never thought I’d be able to throw a bounce pass lob to LeBron James in a game," Russell said.
Not only has Russell been having fun lately, he's been an incredible basketball player. Through eight games in January, the guard has averaged 22.4 points and 6.1 assists on 52.7% from the field.
Russell spent some time coming off the bench after inconsistency in his game but he's been playing his heart out lately, including on Sunday night.
But is it too little, too late?
The rumors continue to build around Russell and it seems very likely that he could be traded from the Lakers very soon.
Russell's name has been attached to rumored trades that involve Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks, Bruce Brown of the Toronto Raptors, Terry Rozier of the Charlotte Hornets, and others.
If he is indeed leaving LA, at least he is heading out on a high note.
