The
Los Angeles Lakers secured a hard-fought win against the Oklahoma
City Thunder with a score of 112-105 in the NBA 2023-24 season on Tuesday.
The Lakers were coming into the match after suffering
consecutive defeats against the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz.
On the other hand, the Thunder were big favourites for the
match as they were on a four-match winning streak with thumping wins against the
Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic.
The Lakers started the game brightly as they finished the first
quarter with a slight lead of 27-26. However, the Thunder came back and won the
second quarter with a score of 24-23.
The third quarter proved to be the decisive factor as the 18-time
champions went ahead and registered 34 points compared to just 26 by the
Thunder. The visitors did try to make a comeback in the fourth quarter where
they were slightly superior to the winning side as it finished with a score of
29-28.
For the winning team, Anthony Davis was the most impactful
player on the night as he registered 27 points including 15 rebounds in just 38
minutes on the court.
Other than him, LeBron James also starred for the winning
side as he registered 25 points including seven rebounds and one three-pointer.
For the losing side, Jalen Williams produced 25 points including
three rebounds and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander registered 24 points with three
rebounds.
Lakers will next face Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday whereas Oklahoma
will face LA Clippers on Wednesday.
