The
Detroit Pistons have been the worst team in the NBA but
tonight, they shocked the basketball community as they defeated the Sacramento
Kings 133-120 at Golden 1 Center behind a dominant
Jaden Ivey performance.
This season has been a disappointment for the Pistons. After
adding more young talent such as Jaden Ivey,
Jalen Duren, and Ausar Thompson to
support star Cade Cunningham, the goal for this team was to develop their promising
core while competing for potentially a play-in spot. However, those goals did
not come to fruition, as Detroit lost a record setting 28 games in a row. They
will look to continue to develop their players and add another lottery pick to
add to this organization.
Jaden Ivey erupted for 37 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists
with 5 made threes. Jalen Duren finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 6
assists while Alec Burks had 25 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
For the Kings,
Domantas Sabonis led the way with 30 points,
12 rebounds, and 7 assists. Malik Monk had 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 10
assists off the bench while Trey Lyles scored 19 points.
This win improves the Pistons to 7-43 on the season. Detroit
is 3-7 over their last 10 games and will play tomorrow night against the Portland
Trail Blazers.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Kings to 29-21, which makes
them 7th in the Western Conference. Sacramento is now 0.5 games behind the 6th
seeded New Orleans Pelicans and 1.5 games above the 8th seeded Dallas Mavericks.
They are 6-4 over their last 10 games and currently on a 2-game losing streak.
Their next game will be on Friday night against the Denver Nuggets.
