The Milwaukee Bucks are hiring Doc Rivers as their new head coach, per CNN Sports
Milwaukee Bucks fired coach Adrian Griffin after just 43 games into the season and, according to CNN, have already reached an agreement with Doc Rivers to be their next coach.
Rivers, an NBA analyst for ESPN of late, led the Philadelphia 76ers to three consecutive Eastern Conference semifinals before leaving the team last spring.
The decision to fire Griffin, who had a respectable 30-13 (.698) record in his short head coaching career, was made due to the organization's belief that improvement was needed to increase the team's chances of competing for the Ring. Despite having the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, the Bucks fell from fourth to 22nd in defensive efficiency from last season.
The main objective of the Bucks is to try to give stability to a team that has two of the biggest NBA stars of the last decade, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard and, above all, improve on the defensive aspect in order to be more competitive in future playoffs in which they must face teams like the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat or the Indiana Pacers, who already eliminated them from the In-Season Tournament.
