The
Cleveland Cavaliers are going to be playing without
Donovan Mitchell, their All-Star point-guard due to a knee injury. Mitchell received a Platelet Rich Plasma injection for treatment and he will have to sit out for the next three games scheduled.
As reported by the franchiseitself, Donovan Mitchell has been dealing with some problems due to a left knee bone bruise. Donovan was previously sidelined from the games against Detroit Pistons, last Friday and then yesterday night, when the Cavaliers received the New York Knicks.
This situation leaves the Cavs without their main guy for the upcoming games against Boston Celtics tomorrow at Cleveland. Then they will travel to Atlanta to face the Hawks on Wednesday, and finally, on Friday's game against the Western 2nd seeded, Minnesota Timberwolves, back at Cleveland.
After this time period, Mitchell will be re-evaluated and his status will be updated as appropiate.
Donovan Mitchell's averages throughout this 2023-24 NBA season were all career highs; 28.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. All of this shooting 47% from the field and 37% from three-point land. It's safe to say that while the Cavs are a very good team, they need their superstar in order to compete with the rest of the NBA powerhouses.
With almost seven weeks left in this regular season, no team wants to begin to fall in its conference standings. Any injuries at this point of the campaign, especially in a contending team such as we believe Cleveland is, due to their outstanding 39-21 record, could change the whole landscape of their postseason future.
