These 2 teams faced off on Tuesday and it was a blowout, as the 2021 NBA champs won by 38. In tonight’s contest, it was more of the same as the Milwaukee Bucks easily beat the Charlotte Hornets 111-99 at Spectrum Center thanks to an MVP performance by Giannis Antetokounmpo.
After a slow start to the Doc Rivers era, the Bucks have now found some momentum, winning their first 4 games following the All-Star break, including a statement victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Things have been shaky all year round for this squad but with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, they will always have a chance to make a deep run in the playoffs.
The Greek Freak dominated in this game, ending with 24 points and 10 rebounds on 67% shooting. Malik Beasley found his rhythm tonight, scoring 19 points and hitting 5 triples. Damian Lillard had 17 points while Brook Lopez finished with 11 points and 3 blocks. Bobby Portis recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
For the Hornets, Brandon Miller led the team with 21 points. He’s been having a nice rookie year despite all the headlines surrounding Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren. Miles Bridges finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Grant Williams provided 17 points off the bench. Seth Curry splashed in 13 points in his 16 minutes of play.
The Bucks improve to 39-22 with this victory and move up to 3 in the Eastern Conference. They are fighting with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2nd seed in the East so this win was huge. Milwaukee is currently on a 3-game winning streak and will look to continue this run tomorrow against the Chicago Bulls.
On the other hand, Charlotte drops to 15-44 with this loss, making them 13th in the East. If the season ended today, the Hornets would have the 4th overall pick. This has been another rough season for this team and they have dealt with unfortunate injuries all year to players such as LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams. They have lost 3 of their last 4 games and will head off to Philadelphia to face the 76ers tomorrow.
