Luka Doncic has done a lot in his NBA career even at such a young age. But on Wednesday night, he celebrated his 25th birthday and made it a night to remember. Doncic scored 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 16 assists, marking his 39th 30 triple-double, which is a major feat for any player, especially one that young.
The Mavericks were able to take home a big 136-125 win over the Toronto Raptors because of Doncic, which mostly erased the pain of the tough loss they suffered at the hands of Max Strus' game-winning buzzer-beater just a few nights before.
Over the last two games, Doncic has acquired 75 points, 30 assists, and 20 rebounds. Only three other NBA players have ever done this: Wilt Chamberlain, Pete Maravich, and Oscar Robertson.
So far this season, Doncic is putting up 34.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 9.7 assists per game and has been included in just about every conversation about this season's MVP trophy. The talks about him possibly winning Most Valuable Player only heated up recently when Joel Embiid was pulled out of the running because he won't play a minimum of 65 games.
Doncic has some stiff competition for that prize, however. Nikola Jokic is the current frontrunner, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jayson Tatum, and Giannis Antetokounmpo are also in the mix to win.
The Mavericks will need more games like this from Doncic in the weeks ahead. They are currently the seventh game in the West with a 34-25 record.
