The Los Angeles Lakers received a great news regarding one of their key defensive players aiming to return to action after being sidelined since last February. Jarred Vanderbilt could be coming back as soon as for game 3, when the series between the Lakers and the Denver Nuggets moves to LA.
The Lakers need all the help they can get in order to stop the reigning champions. Vanderbilt suffered a right midfoot sprain on February 1st and haven't seen action since. The player has been ramping out his workouts, and participated in one of his most intense workouts yet Monday morning at Ball Arena.
Christian Wood also has been announced that is keen on returning as well and provide some extra help against the Joker. Of course, both players will need to find some rhythm but still they can provide some much needed defense in the paint.
"We'll see how he responds to what he did today," Lakers coach Darvin Ham said when asked about Vanderbilt's morning workout. "And still, nothing is going to change in terms of new information. It's just a day-by-day thing. And so we have to see how he tolerates the recovery process. He exerted himself at a pretty high level today. So we'll see how he feels tomorrow. We'll just keep going day by day."
Vanderbilt was only able to play 29 games in the regular season, averaging 5.2 points and 4.8 rebounds. While these numbers might not say much, the 25-year old forward is well known for the energy he brings and his defensive impact.
