The
Oklahoma City Thunder are having one of their best seasons ever, sitting at the top of the Western Conference standings. Now they've bolster their young squad bringing on board an experienced player such as
Gordon Hayward from the
Charlotte Hornets. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski afirms that OKC sent shooting guard Tre Mann and wingman Davis Bertans in exchange to Charlotte.
Hayward, 31, arrives to Oklahoma City to bring his versatility on the outside and experience in crunch time. Despite injuries that affected his availability in previous seasons, Hayward remains an influential player in the league, averaging 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists this season for the Hornets.
The addition of Hayward addresses the Thunder's need for a player of his caliber to boost their wing play and provide veteran leadership to the team. His ability to score and distribute the ball from the perimeter will be an important asset to the team as they look to secure their playoff berth.
Meanwhile, Tre Mann, 23, and Davis Bertans, 31, will join the Hornets as part of the trade. Mann, selected 18th overall in the 2021 draft, brings youth and developmental potential to Charlotte, while Bertans brings experience and depth to the team's outside game.
This move also creates a trade exception for the Thunder, providing them with additional flexibility for future moves both before Thursday's deadline and during the offseason. With Hayward now on their roster, OKC hope to make the most of this opportunity to upgrade their roster and compete at the highest level in the Western Conference.
