In a surprising move, the
Brooklyn Nets acquire two key players from the
Toronto Raptors.
Dennis Schroder and Thaddeus Young will be part of the Nets, upgrading their chances to make a deep playoff run. In exchange Brooklyn sends
Dennis Smith Jr and
Spencer Dinwiddie to Canada.
The standout of this trade is Dennis Schroder, who comes to Brooklyn on a two-year, $26 million contract signed through the 2023 offseason with the Raptors. Schroder, an experienced and versatile point guard, will bring his ability to run the game and score key points at critical times, which will undoubtedly add depth to the Nets' roster.
In exchange for these two additions, the Nets give up Spencer Dinwiddie and Dennis Smith Jr. Dinwiddie, who had a valuable $20.3 million contract, represents a notable loss for Brooklyn. His ability to score and lead the game from the point guard position has been an integral part of the team's success in previous seasons. On the other hand, Dennis Smith Jr. although less relevant in the rotation, also provided depth and energy off the bench.
