Kawhi Leonard of the
Los Angeles Clippers isn't the most talkative NBA star but he recently made a very humorous and candid comment that is generating a lot of interest online.
The star player was giving interviews last weekend ahead of the
All-Star Game and was asked how many points he could score in a high school game. However, the catch about the question was that it was assuming Leonard was playing in a high school game today as a 32-year-old two-time champion.
"Uh, I could easily give it 70," Leonard said. He then added that he's incapable of playing because of his age but humorously proposed the idea of somehow sneaking back into high school.
"Let's get some, uh, what do you call these? Birth certificates," Leonard said.
Leonard might not ever be balling against high school players any time soon but he has certainly been doing impressive work in the league. He has averaged 24.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists so far this season and has gone 45.3% from beyond the three-point line.
More importantly, Leonard has stayed remarkably healthy all season long and has participated in 48 games. If he plays in just four more games, he will surpass his total for last season. He hasn't played more than 60 games in five seasons.
It's no surprise that the Clippers are doing a lot better because they are getting so much more of Leonard. The team is currently the third-best team in the West with a 36-17 record, behind only the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder.
For the first time in years, the Clippers are healthy and have a chance of going far in the playoffs.
