The
Golden State Warriors veteran power forward Draymond
Green has revealed that the side did not have a ‘forward defensive strategy’ in
the match against the
Boston Celtics. They tried to give
Jaylen Brown space and close the zone, but it didn't work out.
The Warriors suffered a thumping defeat on Sunday with a
score of 140-88 at the TD Garden in Boston.
After the match, Green, while talking to the media, stated
that the strategy did not work but he was one of the players who was ‘up for it’
and that it was ‘fun’ to try.
“I don’t think we played forward defensive strategy,” he said.
“We implemented our strategy [which was decided] before we left the locker
room. So I don’t necessarily think we put the forward defensive strategy. [But our
strategy] didn’t work.
“Oh well, we move on. It's ok. I thought it was fun to try. I
was actually all for it. Let’s try to see if it works but it didn't [work]. So
we move on.”
The outcome was a horrible one for the Warriors which left
them reeling on the ninth position in the Western Conference with just 32 wins
and 28 defeats this season.
The star performer for the winning team on the night was their
shooting guard Jaylen Brown who ended up registering 29 points to go with three
rebounds and three assists.
