Clippers really beat the defending champions without Kawhi playing, just hand us our rings
The Los Angeles Clippers were able to score an important, impressive win over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night, beating they reigning champions by just two points as the regular season comes to an end.
There were multiple stars tasked with some tough challenges during the game but Ivica Zubac had one of the most challenging. Being the team's big man meant that he would have to outplay Denver's star player, Nikola Jokic.
For the game, Zubac scored 14 points and 15 rebounds. While that didn't surpass Jokic's total of 36 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists, it was an impressive total. And Zubac did extra special work in the final quarter of the game, posting 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The game was tight from beginning to end and the Clippers needed both the front and the backcourt to play well together. With James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Paul George holding down the backcourt, it was up to Zubac to keep the frontcourt strong. He did just that again and again throughout the game. He was especially important from the free throw line, sinking four consecutive shots and giving his team a small but vital lead.
The Nuggets are one of the best teams in the league and arguably the greatest squad in the Western Conference. They are also, of course, the reigning champions. That means that any time another team can beat them, that says something substantial.
Thursday's win was impressive for the Clippers for a number of reasons, most notably because it showed that multiple players on the roster can contribute and lead the team to victory.
