Memphis Grizzlies talented point guard, Ja Morant, decided to part ways with Jim Tanner. Tanner was working alongside Ja since his Murray State years, before he entered the NBA.
Ja Morant came into the league as the second pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. Ever since that moment, he was represented by Jim Tanner. Tanner accompanied Morant when he signed his first big contract, 4-year and $197 million, back in the summer of 2022.
Tanner is also known for representing other familiar faces around the NBA. Morant's teammate Desmond Bane is one of them, but he also works with Cam Thomas, Jeremy Sochan and Cleveland Cavaliers' defensive beast center, Jarrett Allen.
Morant's image skyrocketed quickly. The former Murray State point guard displayed an exciting, flashy style of basketball that includes being in a number of different highlights game after game. Wether is a mind-blowing pass or a fearless dunk, Ja has always been must see TV.
His career took a serious hit last year, after he was involved in a series of videos holding guns. After a first warning, Ja did it again. The league decided that that's not the image the NBA wants to be linked with and therefore, Morant got suspended for 20 games starting this season.
After he was cleared to play, Ja was sensational, helping his team to win several games until he was stopped by a season ending injury on his shoulder.
Memphis' superstar is expected to be back and healthy by the start of the 2024-25 NBA season.
