LaVar Ball, the controversial
Lonzo Ball and
LaMelo Ball father is back. Basketball best-known father was recently interviewed and as always shared his polemic point of view regarding both of his sons career.
Last week, the
Charlotte Hornets announced that one of their big stars, LaMelo Ball, was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an hurt ankle. LaMelo, finishing his fourth year in the NBA, has been hampered by several kinds of injuries throughout his whole career. The talented point guard sign a massive contract with Charlotte last summer that could earn him as much as $260 million. However, it's a fact that the young player is getting tagged as injury-proned. The last two seasons he only suited-up for 58 games. Still, he's a career 20/6/7 player.
His older brother, Lonzo, has been dealing with a series of knee injuries for quite some time now. The
Chicago Bulls signed him for a 4-year, $80 million dollar contract, three years ago. He missed the last two seasons and he's entering his last year in the following season.
Both Lonzo and LaMelo have shown flashes of greatness. Lonzo is a savvy point guard who developed a good three-point shot and plays very good defense. Before he went down the Chicago Bulls led the Eastern Conference at the halfway mark. They haven't been nearly that good since. He looked like the missing piece for that team to fluorish.
Not affraid of anything, LaVar addressed both of his kids injury problems by stating:
"No, the reason they hurt is because they got away from me. And they start doing these roody-poo workouts. But you start dealing with these rubber bands and doing this lightweight stuff, of course you're going to start breaking down."
LaVar is targeting the NBA conditioning as "soft", quoting that "the reason they hurt is because they got away from me. Because if you keep running them hills, you're going to keep that power and that strength."
But that's not all, since LaMelo has dealt with ankle issues for a while, his father isn't so happy with the sneakers he's wearing too:
"A lot of things have to do with them raggedy shoes that Melo be wearing. Them shoes are not made the right way for him. That's why he keeps tweaking his ankle every single time."
Although LaVar isn't a man to be taking so seriously, he can be that proud and caring father that's happy to watch his boys having good basketball careers:
"As long as my boys are taking care of themselves and doing what they're supposed to do, and get to do something that they love to do for as long as they can, it's a beautiful thing," he says. "A lot of people don't get this opportunity. They got a strong mindset, they Balls. So they're going to come back. They're going to rehab. They're going to do their thing."
Hopefully both of them get back on court as soon as possible. Although their father is quite some character, both of his sons bring their unique quality to the NBA, elevating their teams and playing with a key element of unselfishness.
