The undermanned Boston Celtics picked up another win tonight, this time defeating the Utah Jazz 123-97 at Delta Center behind Jayson Tatum’s dominant performance.
The Celtics have proven themselves to be the best team in the NBA and the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference. They have 6 starting caliber players who all play both sides of the court. Boston is led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and while this team will go as far as they’ll take them, the X-Factors in Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick White, and Jrue Holiday can alter the outcome of any game.
The 5-time All-Star stepped up with key absences tonight, as Tatum finished with a game high 38 points. Derrick White was on fire from three, as he drilled 7 triples and ended with 24 points with 3 blocks. Jrue Holiday had 16 points and 8 assists while Sam Hauser was a sniper on the court, hitting 4 threes and totaling 14 points.
Keyontae George led the Jazz with 26 points and 5 three pointers. Jordan Clarkson provided 21 points off the bench while Collin Sexton scored 20 points with 7 boards. John Collins finished with 10 points and 2 blocks.
The Celtics improve to 51-14 with this win and continue their dominant season. They have a 9.5 game lead above the next best team in the East. Boston is 8-2 over their last 10 games and will look to continue this dominance on Thursday against the Phoenix Suns.
Utah falls to 28-37 with this loss, and it looks like they will be picking in the lottery for the 2024 NBA Draft. The Jazz have been struggling as of late, losing 3 in a row and going 2-8 over their last 10 games. They’ll see if they can pick up a win on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks.
