The
Boston Celtics are the best team in the NBA and tonight
they showed the world on National TV.
Jayson Tatum played nearly a flawless game,
and his performance led his squad to an easy 117-99 victory over the Philadelphia
76ers at TD Garden.
JT is making his case for league MVP. Although he’s not the
favorite at the moment, he definitely is in the conversation with his remarkable
play. Averaging 27 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 5 assists while leading the
Celtics to the best record in the NBA, he deserves to be an MVP finalist.
Although winning this award would be nice, the 25-year-old only cares about
winning the championship with his teammates and for the city of Boston.
The leader of the Cs had another dominant performance, finishing
with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. His partner in crime
Jaylen Brown
scored a team high 31 points while Kristaps Porzingis ended with 23 points and
12 rebounds. Jrue Holiday played well on both sides of the ball, recording 13
points and 7 rebounds while also racking up a steal and 2 blocks.
For the 76ers,
Tyrese Maxey did all that he could, as he
scored a game high 32 points and hit 4 three pointers. Tobias Harris and Cam
Payne each finished with 13 points while Mo Bamba recorded 10 points off the
bench. Ricky Council IV played well, ending with 16 points on 75% shooting.
This win improves the Celtics to 46-12 on the season, making
them now 7.5 games above the 2nd seeded Cavs. Boston is rolling right
now, winning 9 in a row and they are looking like title favorites at this point
of the season. They will look to continue this momentum on Friday against the Dallas
Mavericks.
On the other hand, this loss drops the 76ers to 33-25, which
makes them 5th in the Eastern Conference and 1.5 games behind the 4th
seeded Knicks. Despite a promising start to the season, things went downhill
ever since superstar Joel Embiid got injured. They are still hoping that he can
return for the playoffs but at this point, Philly needs to worry about making
the playoffs first. They are 3-7 over their last 10 games and will look to
bounce back on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets.
