The
Philadelphia 76ers travelled to Tennessee to face the
Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum and they picked up an easy 116-96 victory behind an MVP performance by superstar
Joel Embiid.
The 7-time All-Star finished with a game-high 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks for the 76ers. Kelly Oubre Jr. had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
Tyrese Maxey and Kyle Lowry were quiet in this one as they combined for 15 points.
The Grizzlies are dealing with a ton of injuries so a lot of their young, role players are getting the chance to prove their worth. Rookie
GG Jackson had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals while Scotty Pippen Jr. scored a team-high 24 points.
Jordan Goodwin recorded 15 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists while Maozinha Pereira finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Philadelphia improves to 43-35 with this win and sit 1 game away from escaping the play-in. They have been rolling since the return of Joel Embiid, winning all 3 games that he’s played in. The 76ers are looking to make a deep run in the postseason and with the reigning MVP, that possibility may become a reality.
This team will have to play a top 4 seed in the first round but they are capable of winning the series and advancing. In the meantime, they’ll look to extend their current 4-game winning streak tomorrow against the San Antonio Spurs.
Memphis drops to 27-51 with this loss and is looking forward to the off-season. It has been an unfortunate year for them as they’ve dealt with a ton of injuries. The Grizzlies will look to add more talent through the draft while also getting their core players healthy to make a playoff push next season. They are 4-6 over their last 10 games and will play the Spurs on Tuesday.
