Klay Thompson started in this game and put on a vintage performance as he led the
Golden State Warriors to a much needed 113-92 victory over the
Miami Heat at Kaseya Center.
The 5-time All-Star finished with 28 points and 6 made three-pointers for the Warriors.
Stephen Curry had 17 points, 6 assists and 3 triples while Andrew Wiggins ended with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Jonathan Kuminga recorded 18 points and 7 boards while Draymond Green contributed 4 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The Heat were without Jimmy Butler, so
Bam Adebayo took on a larger role on the offensive end. He finished with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Terry Rozier scored 15 points while Jaime Jaquez Jr. chipped in 12 points. Haywood Highsmith provided 15 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
Golden State improves to 37-34 with this win and gives themselves some breathing room as they now hold a 1 game lead over the red-hot Houston Rockets. This was a much needed victory for the Warriors as they are on the verge of missing the play-in tournament completely, but now they have slightly more wiggle room.
They need to play their A-game the rest of the way if they want to compete for a playoff spot in April. This team is 4-6 over their last 10 games and will look to build some momentum tomorrow against the Orlando Magic.
Miami drops to 39-33 with this loss and is slowly falling further from the top 6 seeds. They are now 1.5 games away from escaping the play-in, so if they can’t turn things around they will be fighting for a playoff spot once again. The Heat are 4-6 over their last 10 games and will look to bounce back on Friday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
