A 119-112 victory for the
New York Knicks over the
Golden State Warriors that leaves the Big Apple Knicks in the middle of the fight for home-field advantage in the Eastern Conference and the Bay Area Knicks watching the Lakers overtake them in the sad fight for ninth place in the West.
Jalen Brunson was by far the best of the duel with 34 points. He was very well accompanied by an outstanding Miles McBride who contributed 29 points and 6 three-pointers. Donte DiVincenzo scored 18 points and Josh Hart completed another 48-minute gift from Tom Thibodeau with a triple-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
For the Warriors,
Stephen Curry was all alone (he finished with 27 points but 4 of 14 on three-pointers). Tray Jackson-Davis contributed 19 points off the bench. Klay Thompson went for 18 points. Jonathan Kuminga was held to 16. There's no way Steve Kerr's guys are going to get on a hot streak;
The Knicks, who have won their last four games and are the second most in-form team in the East, are currently fourth with a one-game lead over the Orlando Magic and are two games back of the third-place Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Warriors have the Lakers one game behind in the only fight they seem to have between now and the end of the regular season: the ninth place that gives the right to play-in. Behind them, the Rockets are still 3 games behind, but watch out for the Texans who have won the last 5 games they have played.
