The NBA has taken its time to make a decision regarding what ocurred back in February 12th, when the New York Knicks lost to the Houston Rockets. In the game, New York believed that a decisive wrong foul call on Jalen Brunson cost them the match.
Back to that game, the New York Knicks were playing against an inferior Houston Rockets team that despite that, were decided to come out and play with everything they got. Dillon Brooks scored 23 points, Jabari Smith Jr ended with 20 points. Sengun, Green and Holiday all of them were huge and gave themselves the opportunity to win the game, shocking New York.
But that's not the full story, in the end of the game, with the score tied at 103, Jalen Brunson gets called for a foul on Aaron Holiday, who was taking the last shot as the time expired. Holiday made the free throws and the Knicks lost the game.
According to the last-two-minutes report, the officiating acknowledged that the foul call on Jalen Brunson when the game was expiring was incorrectly called. With all this, New York filed a protest that today the NBA has resolved.
With a communication released today, the NBA denies the protest:
"New York was required to demonstrate that there was a missaplication of the official playing rules, as opposed to an error in judgement by game officials. Because the foul call at issue reflected an error in judgement, New York did not demonstrate a missaplication of the playing rules, and the extraordinary remedy of upholding a game protest was not warranted".
