The Orlando Magic defeated the New York Knicks 118-100 at Kia Center, led by first time All-Star Paolo Banchero. This is now 4 losses in a row for the team from the Big Apple.
Last season's Rookie of the Year put on a show tonight, scoring a game-high 36 points with 6 made threes. Sidekick Franz Wagner had 21 points while his brother Moe Wagner had 10 points off the bench.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 33 points on 5 made threes. Precious Achiuwa had 23 points and 14 rebounds while Alec Burks scored 13 points.
Paolo Banchero was interviewed after the game and asked what his plans were for this All-Star weekend. The sophomore responded saying that he was going to spend time with his family and try to catch some of the events happening in Indiana.
He was then asked if he feels like he deserves to be in the All-Star conversation after going back and forth with Jalen Brunson. Banchero as well as teammate Franz Wagner chuckled, and the former 1st overall pick then stated that yes, he does feel like he deserves to be an All-Star.
The reporter followed up by asking if he believes tonight's performance opened the eyes of the NBA community on the talent that he possesses, to which he responded by saying he believes he can go head-to-head with anyone in the league.
The first time All-Star gave Jalen Brunson credit, saying that he started off on fire but he ultimately said that he is confident in his own skillset, which is the mindset that all superstars in the league have.
