NBA commissioner
Adam Silver has stated that expanding the competition
to the NBA is ‘definitely’ on the list. The city famous for entertaining visitors over the years
is slowly but surely becoming a hub for sporting events.
Vegas has recently hosted its first-ever Super Bowl where
the Kansas City Chiefs came out on top against the San Francisco 49ers with a
score of 25-22. Before that, the city hosted the NBA’s inaugural in-season
tournament as well.
Silver was recently quoted in a report where he stated that the
league has never been anti-Vegas and is open to having a team representing the
city in the future. He further highlighted that the organisation is now looking
to evaluate the commercial value of having a team representing Vegas in the
competition.
“We’ve never been anti-Vegas as a league,” he said. “We have
one more year left on our television deals in the US after this year, and so we
want to figure out what our media relationships are going to look like, but
then we will turn to expansion.
“And Vegas is definitely on our list. We want to figure out
what our media relationships are going to look like, but then we will turn to
expansion.”
