Portland Trail Blazers center
Deandre Ayton has suffered a
hand injury during the match against the
Miami Heat.
The 25-year-old had to be taken off the court during the match
after what looked like a hand sprain. Blazers head coach
Chauncey Billups has confirmed
that further evaluation will be conducted on Wednesday.
"I think there will be some further testing because he
was in quite a bit of pain," Billups said. "I thought [Ayton]
dominated that first half. Offensively, defensively, he dominated the
game."
The Blazers went on to lose the match against the Heat with
a score of 106-96 at the Moda Center in Portland on Tuesday. It was their ninth
consecutive defeat in the competition which left them in the second-last
position in the Western Conference with 15 wins and 42 defeats.
During the match, Ayton had a decent outing before being subbed
because of an injury as he contributed 12 points to go with 10 rebounds and two
assists in just 19 minutes on the court.
The Bahamas-born is
having a decent time on the court this season for the Blazers where he is contributing
14.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. His most impressive outing
in this campaign came in the match against the Denver Nuggets where he contributed
27 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists.
