On a Wednesday day in the NBA where up to nine games will be played, perhaps the most striking will be the one between Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder, two of the best teams in the competition. In the absence of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the two stars of the game will be Jayson Tatum and Chet Holmgren.
The Thunder will serve as visitors on their second night of back-to-back. The Oklahoma franchise is coming off a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in the return of Joel Embiid after two months of injury. With that loss, OKC is now 3rd in the Western Conference with a 52-23 record, tied with Minnesota Timberwolves (2nd) and very close to Denver Nuggets, leader with 53-23.
The Celtics, meanwhile, finally return to their home floor after their last road trip. Boston has won its last two games, but has been automatically first in the Eastern Conference for almost two weeks now. Right now they own a 59-16 record having won eight of their last 10 games. The two losses have been back-to-back losses, both to the Atlanta Hawks.
