2-time MVP
Stephen Curry had a rough game last night, as he
only scored 9 points against the Philadelphia 76ers. However, he had a huge bounce
back game tonight as he led the
Golden State Warriors to a dominant 131-109 victory
over the
Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Warriors were one of the teams to keep an eye on during
the trade deadline, as there were questions as to whether or not they would
break up their core to add pieces to help them win. Ultimately, the
organization decided to stick with their roster and ride it out the rest of the
way. It’s been a struggle for Golden State and if they fall short at the end of
the year, the big 3 that dominated the past decade may no longer play together.
Chef Curry erupted tonight for 42 points on 68% shooting and
11 made threes. Jonathan Kuminga had 18 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks
while Andrew Wiggins finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Draymond Green contributed a little bit everywhere, as he ended with 8 points,
8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
For the Pacers,
Pascal Siakam led the way with 16 points, 8
rebounds, and 2 assists. Myles Turner had 15 points and 7 rebounds while Tyrese
Haliburton had a rough night, scoring only 5 points but racking up 11 assists. Since
the Pacers traded away Buddy Hield, Andrew Nembhard got the start and he
recorded 10 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists.
This win improves the Warriors to 24-25, which makes them 11th
in the Western Conference. Golden State is now 0.5 games behind the 9th seeded Utah
Jazz and 1.5 games above the 12th seeded Houston Rockets. They are 6-4 over
their last 10 games and currently on a 3-game winning streak. Their next game
will be on Saturday night against the Phoenix Suns.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Pacers to 29-24, which makes
them 6th in the Eastern Conference. Indiana is now 2.5 games behind the 5th
seeded 76ers and 0.5 games above the 7th seeded Miami Heat. They are 5-5 over
their last 10 games and will play on Saturday night against the New York Knicks.
